Not many folks can do pregnancy with quite such aplomb as my beautiful friend Em.  She is thinking this might be their last baby and wanted to capture her beautiful bump so as to remember this time in years to come.  Long after the sleep deprivation and discomfort is forgotten, it will be these fragments of light and wonder that remain.

Beautiful Berry farmland in the magic golden hour before sunset. As good as it gets : )

So you might have heard that the South Coast experienced several tornados a couple of weeks ago? The very next morning I jumped into my car to drive to Werri Beach to shoot this beautifully wild and windy maternity session… the stormy sea and wild waves captured forevermore. At the time I hadn’t watched the news, so I was shocked to see every second tree uprooted and a beach house with a roof ripped clean off. Little did I know that streets of Kiama had suffered much of the same… only later once my friends started texting me cryptic messages asking if we were OK did I start to wonder. We were very fortunate to have slept the night through oblivious to the carnage happening only a kilometre or so away.

The day after the tornados hit was also the day that their adorable little baby girl made a memorable entrance into the world. Maybe to bring some balance to the universe she was the calmest and most easy going of all babies I’ve ever photographed. Many of her extended family had travelled far and wide to be here to celebrate her arrival and it was wonderful to observe her settle so easily for all the family to enjoy long cozy cuddles. This is one loved and adored little baby girl!

I loved certain stages in both my pregnancies and that magical time in the early weeks of my third trimester, when I had a large bountiful belly but before the baby got too big to be comfortable, was one of my favourites.  I enjoyed the way strangers would smile at me as I walked the streets with my first baby in utero, as if there was a secret language of all parents everywhere that I’d yet to be privy too. These smiles were warm and welcoming… an acknowledgement of my joyful innocence of all the parenting experiences that were soon to be ours…soon I would be joining their club!

These two lovely folks were so very warm and relaxed in front of the camera. They wanted to document this time before their first born arrives and i’m delighted to have captured their close relationship to each other before two becomes three!

It is so very rare that I get photos of myself with the kids as I’m always behind the camera. But I know the photos I love most of my own family collection are the ones with my parents together with us looking so young and happy. The photos of my Mum in her gorgeous 70’s caftan and her massive red plastic sunglasses lounging with us on by the lake on a hot summer’s day. The shots of my Dad and myself as a toddler in our autumnal garden in Germany looking at the newly sprouted crocus flower.

So why not treat your Mum or Wife to the precious gift of photos this Mother’s day. A gift that only continues to grow immeasurably in value as the years pass.

I’m very excited to offer over a special package for mum’s this year: Over $600 in value for only $395; available between 7th to the 31st May. Timed perfectly to capture the sensational autumn colours on the beautiful South Coast!  Read on below for the finer details…

Two gorgeous and so very relaxed parents to be. I’m so looking forward to photographing this little bundle on the outside in just a few short weeks time.

I recently found out that Figtree, a suburb local to me in Wollongong, got its name from the Aboriginal people that used a Moreton Bay Fig as a sacred site for birthing their babies. I can just imagine how the large buttresses forming out of these magnificent trees could afford a women in labour much needed privacy and protection from the environment in their time of need.

My client nestled beautifully at the bottom of this fabulous tree in Blackwattle Bay. They are by far my favourite images from the session : )
